Our packages consist of 5 separate modules that take participants through their training to their Qualifying Expedition. All training is based on the Common Training Framework, and provides a lot of practical, hands-on experience for the young people to learn. TrainingModule 1 – 6-hour intensive training, usually at your location, covering the following elements in the DofE Common Training Framework: · Expedition-related First Aid & Emergency Procedures · Awareness of Risk and Health & Safety Issues · Campcraft, Equipment & Hygiene · Food & Cooking · Team building · Preparatory Map & Compass Skills Module 2 – 6-hour Practical Navigation Training module, in an outdoors environment, focusing on map reading and navigation skills. Module 3 – 4-hour Route Planning Workshop that covers the following elements for the Common Training Framework: · Countryside Code, · Observation, Recording and Presentation (including aim) · Route Planning – participants will plan their Practice Expedition route using our own specially developed routecard.
For participants who have completed the previous level of Award, there
is a greater emphasis on practical training, building on skills already learnt,
and providing an opportunity to practice and develop those skills at a higher
level.
Expeditions Module 4 – Practice Expedition. This takes place in an environment similar to the Qualifying Expedition, supervised remotely by our experienced leaders. Module 5 – Qualifying Expedition. This takes place in an environment suitable for the level of Award being undertaken, supervised remotely by our experienced leaders, and assessed by an Accredited Assessor. Additional Support All BPE packages include a presentation launch night to participants and their families, and a post-expedition presentation evening. We can also provide group equipment – tents & stoves – where necessary. All DofE-related paperwork is undertaken by our DofE co-ordinator, who will ensure your expedition runs smoothly and efficiently. |
